Can't wait for the track and field to start, but this part of it all just makes me shudder. As is well known the torch ceremony was introduced into the modern Olympics in 1936, the Berlin or Nazi Olympics and I can't help thinking that the pseudo religiosity and theatrics hold more of the imaginings of Goebbels and Hess than Zeus and Prometheus.

The idea is to create a single area for each property for exactly the reasons you say. It will be a pretty complex job and the results need to be communicated to each household. If more than one house is using the same area then we won't be much further forward than we were before.

I'm not convinced and as you're aware there are places that don't have their curb sides, 11 houses are accessed at the same steps by mine. This I assume will be their site for dropping off waste? I think when waste is deposited individually outside each house then that resident takes responsibility for leaving their rubbish there, they won't have it there all week or fly tip etc. When an area could be anonymously dumped in then this is where the problems arise. I now assume the reason communal bins were introduced because of the bizarre layout of this estate? I hope these concerns will be considered when deciding on where everyone is to dump their rubbish, I really don't want 11 households using the same spot as me :/

Pasties are not processed, as many other 'fast foods' can be. Nobody ever said that eating a large portion of anything is good for you, and as Alex has said nobody would eat them 3 times a day, 7 days a week. Anything in excess is unhealthy, including apples. Pasties CAN be a part of a healthy BALANCED diet. As can deep fried chips, which incidently are not taxed to this extreme. The point still stands that increasing the price of any product by 20%, on top of the VAT paid on the products, the Income tax paid by manufacturers (which may I add is NOT paid by many wealthy Brits, and whose income tax alone could clear the national debt) is going to cause a decline in the sales of such products. Please Cllr Wallis, explain to me how this is in anyway good for the economy for Cornwall, or any other county in the country? Take the good things away from the hard working 99% and it will bite you in the arse.

I wondered this too? Then I thought that the there are a lot of houses set off the road, tucked in between Prince Phillip Road and Queen Elizabeth Road. So coming up the lane next by mine and where I would put out my rubbish, it would also contain at least eight other households. Furthermore, this rubbish would be just placed on the floor in their bags as due to access problems to the houses, again set off the road and communal steps wheelie bins would not be a viable option. Would this not raise health issues? Rats, dogs and cats tearing at bags. I think communal bins are the best option, but think we need more bins, rather then frequent collections possibly? That image of the bin you have here serves a great deal of houses!

I welcome this motion apart from one part. That is your claim the pasty is a 'healthy food'

I think that is misleading, and not correct. As a medium pasty will contain around 489 calories, 32g are fat. They are high in saturated fat and trans fats, which are the two worst types for your heart. A large pasty can contain over 800 calories.

Considering the recommended daily intake is 2000 calories.

However, they are still very tasty and the rest of the motion is good.

Still no sign of recycling containers in many parts of Lanson town centre, promised for the end of the month.
In the meantime, can we have confidence that the old plastic bags WILL be taken in the morning?
We already have 3 weeks worth of recycling in the flat and would not wish to go another fortnight if things go wrong tomorrow.

Tories on Wokingham Borough have just changed the waste contract. Also a nightmare. Missed collections are the least of it. Confusion and annoyance reign. We now have to use council-issued blue bags for waste, with extras costing £4 for 10. And have really limited doorstep recycling. Plus £60 a year for garden waste collection. Big, big issue on the doorstep for the local elections.

As far as I know, a pasty was traditionly eaten cold. The fact that it is hot after being baked is just part of it being cooked. NO VAT on my pasty!!
