If Guido is right about this being genuine then I'm full of admiration for Giles Coren. I mean, who but the truly brave would risk the wrath of sub-editors for generations to come. Having worked in magazines and newspapers off and on, I know that the subs at the Times will be itching to get their revenge. I'll be on the look out for acrostics.
Incidentally, I read the piece in question when it was published and I thought it would be funnier with the addition of the 'a' in the final sentence.
